You received a link and are joining in.
How do I open the list?
Just tap the link you received, for example in WhatsApp. You don’t need an account, a password or an app. Your device then remembers who you are.
How do I add a wish?
Under “My wishes”, tap “Add a wish”. A title is enough; price, shop link and a note are optional.
What happens when I tap “I’ll get this”?
The wish is then taken for everyone else and ends up on your shopping list. Tapped by mistake? Tap “Undo” right away or “Never mind” later. Once you have the gift, tap “I bought it”.
What if two people want to get the same thing?
They can’t. Whoever taps “I’ll get this” first has the wish. For big wishes you can chip in together: if it’s a group gift, everyone taps “I’m in”.
Can the person receiving the gift see who’s getting what?
No. For their own wishes, they can’t see whether someone is already getting something. The server filters that out. And gift ideas that others add for them under “Giving” are completely hidden from them.
Can I add a gift idea for someone else?
Yes. Under “Giving”, tap “Add a gift idea for …” next to the person. Everyone else sees the idea, the person receiving the gift doesn’t.
I want to open the list on another device.
Just open the same link there again. Every device remembers who you are.
I picked the wrong person.
Tap your name in the top right, then “Switch person” or “I’m not …”. Then open the list again using your own link.
I can’t find my link anymore.
Ask the person who created the list. They can send you your link again at any time. Please don’t pass your link on: it’s just for you.
Do I need an app?
No. The wishlist runs in the browser on phones, tablets and computers.
For the person who creates the list
You have an account and manage the list.
Does it cost anything?
No, the wishlist is free. Only people who create lists need an account. Everyone else simply joins via their link.
How do I share the wishlist with the others?
Under “People”, add everyone who’s taking part, including yourself. Under “Invite” you’ll find a ready-made message with each person’s personal link: copy it, send it via WhatsApp or share it.
Personal links or a shared link?
Personal links are safer: everyone enters the list directly as themselves. The shared link (under “Invite” → “Shared link for everyone”) is more convenient: whoever opens it taps their name. But someone could pretend to be another person.
I created the list. Will I see my surprises?
No. The management area deliberately shows no wishes and not who is getting what. To take part, go to “Overview”, tap “Join in yourself” and pick yourself. Then you’ll see the list exactly like everyone else.
A link has fallen into the wrong hands.
Under “People”, tap “New link” next to the person (on a phone via “…”). The old link stops working immediately. Send the person the new one. You can switch off or renew the shared link under “Invite”.
What happens when I remove a person?
Their wishes and everything they added will be deleted. Anything they were going to get for others is released again.
How do I delete a list?
In the list, go to “Settings” → “Delete list”. All people, wishes and links will be permanently deleted.
